Life
Calmness is the ideal state in which we should receive all life's
experiences. Nervousness is the opposite of calmness, and its
prevalence today makes it very nearly a world disease.

Only those who partake of the harmony within their souls know the harmony that

Change your thoughts if you wish to change your circumstances. Since you alone
are responsible for your thoughts, only you can change them. You will want to
change them when you realize that each thought creates according to its own
nature. Remember that the law works at all times and that you are always
demonstrating according to the kind of thoughts you habitually entertain.
Therefore, start now to think only those thoughts that will bring you health
and happiness.

We are what we think we are. The habitual inclination of our thoughts
determines our talents and abilities, and our personality. Thus, some think
they are writers or artists, industrious or lazy, and so on. What if you want
to be other than what you presently think you are? You may argue that others
have been born with the special talent you lack but desire to have. This is
true. But they had to cultivate the habit of that ability some time -- if not
in this life, then in a previous one. So whatever you want to be, start to
develop that pattern now. You can instill any trend in your consciousness
right now, provided you inject a strong thought in your mind; then your
actions and whole being will obey that thought.

One must never give up hope of becoming better. A person is old only when he
refuses to make the effort to change. That stagnant state is the only "old
age" I recognize. When a person says again and again, "I can't change; this is
the way I am," then I have to say, "All right, stay that way, since you have
made up your mind to be like that."

No matter what his present state, man can change for the better through
self-control, discipline, and following proper diet and health laws. Why do
you think you cannot change? Mental laziness is the secret cause of all

The greatest of all happiness, next to divine happiness, is to be at peace
with one's immediate relations, those with whom one must live every day in the
year. When people try to handle the extremely complicated machinery of human
feelings without any training whatsoever, the consequent results are often
disastrous. Very few persons realize that most of our happiness lies in the
art of understanding the law of human behavior. That is why so many people are
often "in hot water" with their friends, and, worse yet, at constant war with
their own best beloved ones at home.

The basic law of right human behavior is self-reform....Whenever any trouble
occurs with our friends or dear ones, we should inwardly lay the blame on
ourselves for getting into an unpleasant situation and then try to get out of
it as fast and as graciously as we can. It is fruitless to increase the
trouble by loudly, unkindly, discourteously blaming others, even though we
find that they are to blame. We can teach quick-tempered dear ones to mend
their faults a hundred times better by setting a good example than we can by
harsh or self-righteous words.

Every one of us is going to die someday, so there is no use in being afraid of
death. You don't feel miserable at the prospect of losing consciousness of
your body in sleep; you accept sleep as a state of freedom to look forward to.
So is death; it is a state of rest, a pension from this life. There is nothing
to fear. When death comes, laugh at it. Death is only an experience through
which you are meant to learn a great lesson: you cannot die.

The world as a whole has forgotten the real meaning of the word love. Love has
been so abused and crucified by man that very few people know what true love
is. Just as oil is present in every part of the olive, so love permeates every
part of creation. But to define love is very difficult, for the same reason
that words cannot fully describe the flavor of an orange. You have to taste
the fruit to know its flavor. So with love.

In the universal sense, love is the divine power of attraction in creation
that harmonizes, unites, binds together....Those who live in tune with the
attractive force of love achieve harmony with nature and their fellow beings,
and are attracted to blissful reunion with God.
